On February 2, 2011 Spencer Lisenby flew his own design the Kinetic 100 DP to 468mph setting a new world record at Norco California in winds gusting over 65mph. Here is a video compilation part of that flight. The radar gunner, Chris Bosley also flew the plane and his flight is included in the second half of the video. Unfortunately in the second portion of the flight the plane is more visible than the world record passes for three reasons. One the plane is flown less aggressively at a much slower rate, 405mph (borrowed plane ) two, the second pilot is wearing a helmet camera so the camera is naturally following the plane and nobody fly’s as well as Spencer. During the record passes the radar gunner was more concerned about getting the speed on radar and not thinking about filming the flight so there’s a bit of quick camera movement. Pop megastar Katy Perry broke onto the pop music scene when her breakout hit “I Kissed A Girl” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 9 weeks straight, and quickly proved she was no one-trick pony after hitting the Top 3 on the Hot 100 with her summer hit “Hot N Cold”. Third single was the ballad “Thinking Of You” which failed to chart on the Hot 100, most probably because Perry’s core fanbase wasn’t used to a ballad Perry. But Katy stuck to the winning formula and scored her third Hot 100 Top 10 hit with “Waking Up In Vegas”. She took some time off after that to tour and headed back into the studio to record her follow-up album “Teenage Dream”, scheduled to drop in August. Not surprisingly, the pop-tastic lead single “California Gurls” hit #1 in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, and the UK. This past Thursday, the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid made its driving debut on a closed road in Monterey California, just days prior to its appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. After being shipped over from Germany by plane, engineers handed the keys of the new 918 Spyder Hybrid to Porsche AG Design Chief Michael Mauer. The car drove under its own power which comes from the mid mounted 3.4 liter V8 out of the RS Spyder as well as in all electric mode which powers just the front wheels. The 918 Spyder prototype combines high-tech racing features and electro-mobility to offer a fascinating range of qualities: An emission level of just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre on fuel consumption of three litres/100 kilometres (equal to 94 mpg imp) truly outstanding even for an ultra-compact city car, on the one hand, combined with the performance of a super sports car and acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just under 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph) plus, and a lap time on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring in less than 7:30 minutes, faster than even the Porsche Carrera GT, on the other.
